“Hard Wired to Self-Destruct” is the first album in 8 years following “Death Magnetic” (2008), it is the longest gap in between the studio albums in the bands history. It is the tenth studio album from American metal band Metallica released as a double album on November 18 2016 by vanity label Blackened Records.
The Album is heavier than their more commercial successful albums firmly in the heavy/thrash metal category as compared to some of their ambiguous earlier releases i.e. Load, S and M, and justice for all.
Lars Ulrich said “The album feels like a continuation of Death Magnetic.”
The album received an average score of 74/100 from 28 reviews on Metacritic, the album is a refreshing change of paced to Legacy Metallica while still taking a step into new territory and expanding their heavier roots.
